You need flawless technical execution to get from concept to courtroom.

Our technology consultants have an average of over 10 years in the courtroom and hundreds of trials under their belt including cases at the genesis of this industry like the Exxon Valdez trial, the O.J. Simpson trial, and more recent experience in the largest product liability MDLs like Phen-Fen or Vioxx. Moreover, we pride ourselves on being problem solvers and you will never hear us say “it can’t be done.”

Evidence Databases

Your case is at your command using a trial presentation system like TrialDirector or Sanction to centrally store your documents, deposition videos, demonstratives, animations, and photos. Our technology consultants have been using these systems from beta-testing to live in court during countless trials and hearings. We take your load files, PDFs, or scan your exhibits to create a reliable and accurate database for presentation.

Presentation Consulting

Anyone can be trained to run software—that’s the easy part. The difficult part of being a great technology consultant is an ability to stay cool under the pressures of trial, quickly troubleshoot issues, and, most importantly, provide experienced advice on how to best use the presentation technology to keep things interesting for the trier-of-fact and have the technology operate as a seamless extension of your argument, opening, witness examination, or closing.

Deposition Video Management

Both TrialDirector and Sanction have powerful deposition video components that allow technology consultants to easily make designations, play back video with scrolling text, and create reports showing designation times. To enable these features, we offer the following services:
  • Encoding video from VHS or DVD to MPEG-1 Video
  • Synchronization of deposition transcripts to MPEG-1 video using voice-recognition software
  • Manual checking for translation depositions

PocketVideo for Depositions

MPEG-1 Video is the standard for deposition video but it has a few serious drawbacks—size, size, and size. Ten depositions can chew up 48 Gigabytes of disk space on your server, 48 data CDs, or 10 DVDs. Not exactly portable and not exactly useful. With PocketVideo, we compress the MPEG-1 video to 10% of the original size and can create a LiveNote database to enable playback. With one data DVD and LiveNote, you can now search and review testimony from 10 days worth of depositions. PocketVideo is an affordable way to get the most out of your investment in videotaped depositions.

Video Capture/Web Capture

Need to capture streaming video from a website for two weeks straight? No problem, we have done it before. Our technology consultants have strong video backgrounds – deposition videographers, television editors, web-programmers. We haven’t met a video challenge we couldn’t handle—here’s a few that we have.
  • Capture embedded Flash animations from a web-site
  • Record streaming video from web-cam; indexing date and time activity
  • Download web-sites for play back in court without an internet connection

Scanning and Imaging

In most of our cases, the exhibits come to us in PDF format or as a batch of TIFs with a load file. For those that don’t, we can take care of the scanning for you. We also have the experience to deal with more difficult imaging challenges:
  • Large format documents – blueprints, chip plots, maps• High resolution color scans of photos, magazines
  • Image tiling – stitching pages together to recreate a multi-page complex spreadsheet or other document
  • Document restoration and clean up of poor quality scans

Electronic Briefs

Courts increasingly request electronic briefs to be submitted in addition to paper filings. We use Adobe Acrobat to turn your paper brief into an interactive document with hyperlinks to case law, exhibits, demonstratives, testimony, videos, audio clips, or any other media necessary. From complaints to post-trial briefs, we have prepared electronic briefs of varying complexity for all stages of litigation.
